Mike was born and raised in Marmora, Ontario. He came from a family based mechanical contracting business so he had exposure to residential, commercial and industrial mechanical installations and heavy equipment operations from an early age. He then moved into plant operations in facilities in steam plants up to a 1st Class rating in the wood, chemical industries, along with provincial and federal government facilities.

When Mike did get the travel bug, he took it to new lengths. He managed to combine travel and work into one and has been to every continent but Antarctica. He has worked for more than 30 years in facilities operations, management and construction which has allowed him to create a deep knowledge of different trades and engineering. He also managed to get his license as a Gas Technician and 2nd Class Operating Engineer and is a member in good standing with the Institute of Power Engineers (IPE) association.

For the last seven years he has worked with an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and consulting engineering firm in the bulk handling industry for mining and marine based systems. Providing advisory and technical oversight on multi-million dollar projects overseeing the installation, quality control and commissioning of large scale machines systems in mines, ports and ship based systems around the world

Mike studied civil engineering at Loyalist College and Mining Engineering at Queens University and is a member in good standing with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT).

Mike believes that…

FairTradeWorks will engage all stakeholders with understanding and respect, to assist clients in having the best construction experience possible.

Lucy was born and raised in Belleville, Ontario and considers her “small town” roots to be a blessing and professional asset. Early in her career she had the privilege of working in nearly every Canadian province and credits that diverse exposure for creating the deep appreciation she holds for both city-living and a more relaxed small-town lifestyle. After 6 years of working for a large organization in public facing roles and as part of a nationwide operational team, Lucy decided to switch gears. When she was handed the opportunity to assist in a small business start-up she jumped at the chance, drawing from her operations experience and love of a challenge. This was where she was first introduced to the world of construction and hasn’t looked back since. When FairTradeWorks announced their development plans in Ontario, Lucy knew she wanted to be a part of the team and luckily it was a natural fit. After working with the FairTradeWorks team in Vancouver, BC Lucy is now assisting in the roll out of their Ontario operations.

Lucy believes that…

FairTradeWorks is ahead of the curve when it comes to defining and answering the need for development in rural Ontario, and she is excited to help the vision come to life.
